Beautiful Lucy came to us in March 2015 when her owners surrendered her to us. They had saved her from the meat man at Echuca sales in the previous December.
Lucy was in the pen with an obvious eye injury and in a bad way.
The only bidder was the knackery.
They saved her and cared for her until they realised she needed further investigation and likely removal of her eye and other issues that they couldn't afford or provide.
There was also the thought she may have been in foal but further investigation proved this was not the case.
Lucy was immediately sent to our vets and the decision was made to remove her eye. She completely recovered and spent the next few months living in her paddock with her new friends and adjusted to life with one eye. She then underwent further training and rehabilitation.
